
Über den Arzt
Akira Ikemi, Ph.D., is a clinical psychologist and focusing-oriented psychotherapist with a background in international education, having been raised in Kobe, Japan. He is a bilingual English-Japanese speaker and holds a Ph.D. from the University of Occupational & Environmental Health. Ikemi studied with Eugene Gendlin at the University of Chicago and has taught at various universities, including Kansai University, Okayama University, and Kobe College. He has contributed extensively to the field of humanistic psychology and focusing-oriented psychotherapy, developing unique methods such as 'Anicro' and 'Kanga Focusing,' which he collectively refers to as 'iFocusing.' Ikemi has held prominent roles in academic societies, including President of the Japan Focusing Association and Board Member of the International Focusing Institute. His work spans theoretical research, clinical practice, and international workshops, focusing on experiential processes, embodiment, and the integration of Eastern and Western therapeutic approaches.
