Prim. Priv.-Doz. Dr. Georg-Christian Funk ist Facharzt für Innere Medizin, Lungenkrankheiten und Intensivmedizin. Seit Mai 2018 leitet er die 2. Medizinische Abteilung mit Pneumologie in der Klinik Ottakring. Zuvor war er leitender Oberarzt der Intensivstation und der onkologischen Station im Otto Wagner Spital. Er habilitierte an der Medizinischen Universität Wien und absolvierte Ausbildungen zum Health Care Manager und Risikomanager. Seine klinischen Schwerpunkte umfassen die Diagnostik und Therapie von obstruktiven Lungenerkrankungen wie COPD und Asthma, die nicht-invasive Beatmung, das Weaning, die Lungenfunktionsprüfung (Spirometrie, Bodyplethysmographie), die Sonographie der Thoraxorgane und die Echokardiographie. Er bietet auch Beratung zur Lungenkrebsfrüherkennung, Rauchstopp, Sport- und Trainingsberatung sowie die Erstellung von Patientenverfügungen an. Er ist Mitglied mehrerer Fachgesellschaften (ÖGP, ÖGIM, ÖGIAIN, ERS, ESICM, ATS, SCCM, ACCP) und war Generalsekretär der Österreichischen Gesellschaft für Pneumologie. Dr. Funk legt Wert auf eine ausführliche ärztliche Anamnese und ganzheitliche Betrachtung des Patienten.
