Univ.-Prof. Dr. med. Andreas Karwautz ist Universitätsprofessor an der Universitätsklinik für Kinder- und Jugendpsychiatrie der MedUni Wien und leitet die Ambulanz für Essstörungen bei Kindern und Jugendlichen. Er ist international führend auf dem Gebiet der Essstörungen, insbesondere Anorexia nervosa, Bulimia nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder und ARFID. Seine Arbeit umfasst Forschung, Lehre und Therapie, wobei er sich auf die interdisziplinäre Betreuung von Patient:innen spezialisiert hat. Prof. Karwautz organisiert regelmäßig wissenschaftliche Kongresse und Fortbildungen, die sich mit aktuellen Entwicklungen in der Behandlung und Prävention von Essstörungen befassen. Er ist zudem Präsident des Vereins zur Förderung der Kinder- und Jugendpsychiatrie und Psychotherapie in Österreich, Präsident der Eating Disorders Research Society (EDRS) für 2026 und engagiert sich in der Aufklärung über Essstörungen.
