Dr. Michael Nicolakis absolvierte seine umfassende Ausbildung in Orthopädie und orthopädischer Chirurgie an der Universitätsklinik Wien unter Prof. Kotz. Er spezialisierte sich in Wirbelsäulenchirurgie am International Spine and Arthritis Centre in Cleveland, USA, bei Prof. Steffee. Mit fünfjähriger Erfahrung als leitender Oberarzt an der Universitätsklinik für Orthopädie Wien übernahm er die Leitung des Bereichs Wirbelsäulenchirurgie, Gutachten, Skoliose und Wirbelsäulenambulanz. Nicolakis ist international und national als Vortragender tätig und hat zahlreiche Fellowships in den USA, Japan und Deutschland absolviert. Er war Vizepräsident der Österreichischen Gesellschaft für Wirbelsäulenchirurgie (2001-2002) und Präsident (2003-2004). Seit 2000 ist er Oberarzt im Evangelischen Krankenhaus Wien und seit 2014 Vorstandsmitglied im Berufsverband der Orthopäden Österreichs. Nicolakis ist Mitglied in mehreren Fachgesellschaften, darunter die Österreichische Gesellschaft für Orthopädie und Orthopädische Chirurgie, die Österreichische Gesellschaft für Wirbelsäulenchirurgie, die North American Spine Society, und die Deutsche Gesellschaft für Wirbelsäulenchirurgie. Er ist zudem Inhaber eines Diploms für Manuelle Medizin der Ärztekammer Österreichs.
