Priv. Doz. Dr. Wolfgang Sieghart wurde in New Haven/USA geboren und studierte Medizin in Wien mit einem Auslandsaufenthalt in den USA. Seine wissenschaftliche Laufbahn begann an der Wiener Universitätsklinik für klinische Pharmakologie. 2006 wechselte er an die Universitätsklinik für Innere Medizin, wo er seine Facharztausbildung für Innere Medizin sowie Zusatzfachausbildungen für Gastroenterologie, Hepatologie und internistische Intensivmedizin absolvierte. Er habilitierte sich 34-jährig im Fachgebiet Innere Medizin und erhielt den Titel Associate Professor. Seine klinisch-wissenschaftliche Tätigkeit im Bereich der Leberkrebsforschung führte zu zahlreichen Publikationen, Forschungs-Grants und über 60 Vortragseinladungen. Seit 2013 leitet er die Arbeitsgruppe für gastrointestinale Onkologie der Österreichischen Gesellschaft für Gastroenterologie und Hepatologie (ÖGGH) und ist Mitglied der Kommission für die Spezialprüfung im Bereich Innere Medizin mit Schwerpunkt Gastroenterologie und Hepatologie.
