About the doctor

Dr. Rainer Watzak ist Facharzt für Innere Medizin mit den Zusatzfächern Gastroenterologie und Hepatologie sowie Geriatrie. Er wurde 1999 an der Universität Wien promoviert und absolvierte seine Ausbildung am Krankenhaus St. Elisabeth und am Heeresspital. Von 2002 bis 2017 leitete er das gastrointestinale Funktionslabor am St. Elisabeth Spital und war stationsführender Oberarzt am Franziskusspital. Er verfügt über langjährige endoskopisch-interventionelle Erfahrung und ist seit 2018 Belegarzt im Rudolfinerhaus. Seit 2019 betreibt er die Ordination endo2go im 20. Bezirk. Sein Schwerpunkt liegt auf der sanften Gastroskopie und Coloskopie in Sedierung, wobei er moderne Techniken wie CO2-Insufflation, Chromoendoskopie und interventionelle Polypektomie einsetzt. Er ist Mitglied der Österreichischen Gesellschaft für Gastroenterologie und Hepatologie (ÖGGH) und hat das ÖÄK-Diplom für Palliativmedizin. Dr. Watzak fungiert auch als Netdoktor-Experte zum Thema Gastroskopie.
