Dr. Zettinig ist Gründungsmitglied und Sekretär der Österreichischen Schilddrüsengesellschaft, Leiter des Arbeitskreises Kopf-Hals der ÖGUM und Autor mehrerer Fachbücher und eines Patientenratgebers. Er hat zahlreiche wissenschaftliche Arbeiten in internationalen Fachzeitschriften veröffentlicht und ist Gutachter für mehrere medizinische Journale. Seine klinischen Schwerpunkte liegen in der Diagnostik und Therapie aller Schilddrüsenerkrankungen, insbesondere der chronischen Immunthyreoiditis Hashimoto, des Morbus Basedow, von Schilddrüsenknoten und des Schilddrüsenkarzinoms.
